A hybrid tablet made for gamers...! Archos announced GamePad 2, a second-generation Archos GamePad tablet
The company has finally confirmed a release date, perks and pricing for its second-generation gaming handheld. The Archos GamePad 2 Tablet will ship in the U.S. in Q4 for $199.99 and available in Europe at the end of October at £179.99/€179.99.

Building upon the concept and design of the original, the Archos GamePad 2 features a A9 quad-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz, quad-Core graphics processor and 2GB of system RAM; a 7-inch HD display with 1280 x 800 pixel IPS display, and the proprietary ARCHOS Game Mapping Tool.

Archos GamePad 2 also features a single part directional pad, which Archos claimed makes for easier hadokens.

It will be available with 8GB or 16GB of built-in storage, and has a microSD slot (64GB compatible) with app2sd support for extra storage and the tablet runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean software.

Other noteworthy specs include a WiFi Display, HDMI, front stereo speakers, Front camera for video calling and an improved multi-media thanks to Archos Media Center applications.

Archos will ship GamePad 2 with complete versions of Asphalt 8: Airborne and Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour by Gameloft.

Because of its Google connection (and because it's a tablet), the Archos GamePad 2 has access to a suite of Mountain View's apps, like Gmail, Hangouts and YouTube, as well as the Play Store.
