Asus announced its latest convertible tablet at this year’s IFA in Berlin and it’s called the Transformer Pad TF701T.
The Asus Transformer Pad TF701 is an Android tablet that turns into a laptop-like device thanks to a clever keyboard base. The Asus Transformer Pad TF701 package comes in two bits. There’s the tablet and the keyboard dock. The Transformer Pad Infinity TF701T is a 10 inch Android tablet with a high resolution, 2560 x 1600 pixel display. The Tegra 4 chipset packs in four ARM Cortex-A15 processor cores along with a 72-core GeForce GPU which should be able to handle even the most graphically intensive Android games. |
a 32GB of onboard storage is rather generous, but you can boost it through the microSDXC card on the tablet itself, or through the SDXC slot on the keyboard dock. Asus also makes a 64GB model, but pricing for that version isn’t yet available.
A 5 megapixel rear camera and front-facing 1.2-megapixel webcam support autofocus and can capture 1080p and 720p video respectively. Miracast can output a video signal wirelessly to a compatible display, or you can output 4K resolutions using the Micro HDMI port.
In addition to the convenience of a full-sized QWERTY keyboard, a full-size SD slot and a USB 3.0 port, the Mobile dock also features a 4,170mAh battery. When the Transformer Pad is out of juice, the dock acts as a charger. It can give about 50% longer endurance.
The latest Asus Transformer Pad tablet goes on sale in the US soon, and it’s already up for pre-order from at least one retailer. A 32GB tablet sells for $449, while you can order a tablet plus keyboard dock for $599.
Asus also has confirmed that its flagship Transformer Pad TF701T will be going on sale in the UK from the 21st of October onwards through Amazon and Ebuyer, with an RRP of £430.
