On Tuesday, Sony introduced the Xperia M2 Aqua, a water-proof variant of the mid-range Xperia M2 smartphone. It brings the highest dust and water resistance IP rating found on a smartphone, IP68.
The Xperia M2 Aqua features 4.8-inch qHD display (540x960 resolution at a lowly 230 ppi pixel density) and is powered by a Snapdragon 400 chipset (quad Cortex-A7 at 1.2GHz, Adreno 305, 1GB RAM).
There is an an 8MP / 1080p camera with an Exmor RS sensor, HDR and SteadyShot video stabilization. It supports livestreaming to Facebook and downloadable in-app features like Vine and Motiongraph.
The battery life is very promising with a 2,300mAh battery and the available Stamina Mode.
The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua boast 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth and ANT+ for sports accessories
The Xperia M2 Aqua will launch straight with Android 4.4 KitKat.
The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua will be available in black and white color options. No pricing detail has been disclosed yet, but the only info on pricing is that it will be "mid-range".
The Sony Xperia M2 Aqua is scheduled to hit the markets starting Autumn 2014 in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Pacific.
