Google Glass now on sale to all in US

After many months of hype, Good news from Google, you can now plunk down $1,500 and order a pair.

Google said the eyewear-mounted device, which is still at the beta development stage, would be on sale until stocks ran out.

Today, the company said it still considered this open purchasing option part of the Glass Explorer Program, and not a full-blown consumer launch, which is expected to happen later this year. It's also still limiting orders to those in the US.
"We’re still in the Explorer Program while we continue to improve our hardware and software, but starting today, anyone in the U.S. can buy the Glass Explorer Edition, as long as we have it on hand starting today, anyone in the U.S. can buy the Glass Explorer Edition, as long as we have it on hand."

Keep in mind this is still an early version of the technology and not the final model that will be marketed to the average consumer, if that ever happens.

Google said it was still working to improve hardware and software. It did not specify how many glasses would be sold or whether it would make any more once sold out.

The consumer version is expected to go on sale to the general public towards the end of 2014.

Should remember, Google Glass can record video, access email, provide turn-by-turn driving directions and retrieve information from the web by connecting wirelessly to a user's phone. So, It's raised privacy and safety concerns, prompting legislators in some jurisdictions to propose bans or limits on its use including when driving.
