Ducati reveals New Monster 821 in 2 flavors

Ducati has just announced the debut of the new Monster 821. The Ducati Monster 821 is the new mid-size offering based on the flagship Monster 1200.

Ducati said,"having delivered over 290,000 Monsters since the original concept more than 20 years ago, the essential new model maintains its stylish character using the new chassis and muscular styling of the Monster 1200, designed with premium components fully integrated with Ducati’s latest technologies."
The new Ducati Monster 821 arrives with the same water-cooled 821cc Testastretta 11-degree engine – transplanted from he Hypermotard line – that produces 112 horsepower and 65.9 ft/lbs of torque. The power stats correspond, roughly, with the 821-powered Hypermotard models (110 horsepower and identical torque) as tested during MotoUSA’s 2013 Hypermotard First Ride. The eight-valve, L-Twin sources Ducati’s desmodromic valve actuation, but if it holds true to the Hypermotard specs, service intervals are now extended to 18,500 miles.

he same electronics suite on the Monster 1200 makes its way to the smaller 821, with 8-level traction control, 3-level ABS, and 3-level ride-by-wire throttle response settings. Available colors will be Monster 821 Dark version in dark stealth paint with black frame and wheels, along with Ducati Red with red frame and black wheels, and Star White Silk with red frame and matte red wheels. Both the red and white versions come with a color-matched single seat cover.

Ducati says the new Monster 821 will be available at your local dealer beginning in July. MSRP is set at $10,995 for the Monster Dark version, and $11,495 for the standard color 821.

The Monster 821 Dark is presented in dark stealth with black frame and black wheels, while the Monster 821 is dressed in Ducati red with red frame and black wheels or star white silk with red frame and matte red wheels. Both red and white liveries are equipped with colour-matched single-seat covers. The brand new model is also made available to restricted license holders with the specially regulated power versions of 25kw for Switzerland and 35kw for other participating countries.
