Motorola FOCUS66 Wi-Fi HD Home Monitoring Camera will be released on September 1, 2014

Motorola FOCUS66 Wi-Fi HD Home Monitoring Camera

The Motorola FOCUS66 HD Wi-Fi home video camera is not sold as a baby monitor, but it works like one. It has two-way audio and a thermometer reading, and will play your choice of 5 lullabies (controlled remotely). The music sounds nice enough

The Motorola FOCUS66 HD Wi-Fi home video camera is a cloud based home monitoring camera that turns any compatible smartphone, tablet, or computer into a fully functional home video monitoring system. The free motion, sound, and temperature alerts offer a sense of security in your home.
First of all, set-up is quite easy. The included User's Guide is clear and easy to follow and the application that you download (you must first connect to the camera via a device - you cannot directly access it with a PC as it must be first paired with a mobile device - once it is paired, you can then access what it monitors on your computer via a web site).

The iPhone app is easy to use, but could use some changes to the way you get to different menus/settings. Once you get everything set up the way you want it though, there is hardly a need to go back to the different menus/settings. The sensitivity levels for noise, movement, and temperature (yes, temperature!) are easy to use.

The FOCUS66 allows you to connect (very easily through the `Hubble' App) to monitor real time what is going on with a decently clear picture (claims 720p but more like 480p).

Note: Read the guide and follow the instructions (you don't have to read it all) then follow the onscreen instructions and you'll be up and running rather quickly.

The crystal clear two-way audio communication helps you stay connected to your family and pets from anywhere. The infrared night vision helps you stay in touch with what's going on in the room even in very low light levels.

Additionally and perhaps the best part of the device is that you can record video or screen captures straight to the device you're using to monitor this. In particular, the motion/sound detection and resulting alerts and screen captures is fantastic and where this device shines.

This Motorola FOCUS66 Wi-Fi HD Monitoring Camera provides acceptably good audio and fixed angle video streaming using your home WiFi network and your handheld mobile device (iPhone 5 in my application, but will also work with Android). User can snap photos, communicate audibly 2-way, and monitor room temperature. Infra-red for low light. Motion/sound activation/notification capability. Zoom control, but no up/down side/side capability. View angle is fixed, but can be somewhat compensated for by positioning the device for wide viewing.

Setup is a snap. No additional costs required unless you want video storage, which can be set up for a monthly or annual fee. I found the picture resolution to be pretty good. Not Hollywood quality but certainly good enough for pet, nanny, security, etc monitoring.
